CE marking of manually operated doors

New manually operated doors, such as swing doors, sectional doors, folding doors, shutters, roller doors and gates, must be CE marked before they are placed on the market. The CE marking shows that the door meets applicable safety requirements and EU regulations, and is confirmed by a rating plate and associated Declaration of Performance (DoP).

The CE marking is based on the Construction Products Regulation EU 305/2011, as doors are classified as construction products that affect the safety, climate and function of the building. By following the harmonised product standard EN 13241:2003+A2:2016, the requirements for CE marking are met. Performance must be tested by a certified testing laboratory according to system 3, and for doors intended for fire protection also according to system 1.

The manufacturer is responsible for producing technical documentation, risk assessment, declaration of performance and instructions for installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling. The owner must follow these instructions and carry out the necessary maintenance. Manually operated doors are not subject to inspection requirements, but if the door is later motorised, new CE marking and inspection are required.
