Vendela Dellner, Marketing and Communications Manager at Motum, has been newly elected to the Portgruppen board. We asked Vendela five questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you briefly tell us what kind of company Motum is and what your role\/job duties are?
<\/strong>\u2013 Motum is Sweden's largest independent elevator and door supplier. Together, we have 400 employees in Sweden and Norway who service, modernize and install elevators and doors. My role includes creating awareness of Motum and our subsidiaries, both in order to attract employees and grow with more customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What inspired you to take a seat on the Port Group board?
<\/strong>\u2013 When I was asked to take a seat on the Port Group board, I was very honored. I have previously sat on the Port Group communications committee and have been involved in various market-related activities over the past year. I hope that my background in marketing and communications will be able to contribute to the future growth of the Port Group. That we reach more companies in our industry and make them see the benefits and advantages of being a member, while ensuring that member companies get the most out of their membership in the form of, among other things, training, networking meetings and knowledge.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you consider to be the most valuable benefits of being a member of the Port Group?
<\/strong>\u2013 I know that many companies in our industry are small-cap companies and do not have access to expertise or resources in important areas. Being a member of the Portgruppen industry organization gives these companies the opportunity to access a valuable network and skills development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What issues do you think are important for the industry association to pursue?
<\/strong>\u2013 There are many important areas that the trade association is running today and there is always room for improvement within these. One area that is close to my heart is safety. Both for the door technician who installs, services and repairs the door, but also safety in general for the users of the door. Here I look forward to helping to increase awareness of who is responsible for the door and what regulations apply. It will be fun to be involved and highlight the members' prioritized focus areas in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What challenges do you think the industry will face in the coming years?
<\/strong>\u2013 There are challenges in several areas within our industry. Like in many other industries, we suffer from a skills shortage and here we can be much better at promoting the craftsmanship in our profession and giving our colleagues the opportunity to tell us why they chose this profession and the benefits of it. Then it would have been fun to be involved and ensure that more girls apply for the profession to increase diversity within our industry. At Motum we have a technician training program where we train tomorrow's elevator and door technicians and here we are trying to attract more girls to apply for the industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
