Our members: UK Portservice
In this series we introduce our new members, where they talk about their activities and why they are members of the Port Group. Now it's the turn of UK Port Service.
UK Portservice was started by Ulf Kvist in 1997 in Borås. During the first years, the company was a one-man business where service and maintenance were the focus. As the company's good reputation spread, the business grew with more employees.
In order to be close to the ever-increasing customer base, the business was further expanded in August 2013 and a Gothenburg branch was opened. This was the start of a strong growth journey. Over the years, UK Portservice has received several awards such as Gazelle Company 2016 and 2017, UC Nordic Growth Company and 2022 Industry Winner.
Today, UK Portservice has two strong departments in Borås and Gothenburg within Sales, Installation and Service, thus covering all of Western Sweden.
We asked a few questions to André Linder, who has been CEO of the company since 2020.
Can you tell us a little about your business and what role you have in the company?
UK Portservice is a values-driven company which offers cost-effective complete solutions and takes care of the entire door assembly, which includes, among other things, design, assembly, maintenance, service but also forging, automation, hole-making, plating and joining. My role is CEO and has a strategic role but also design and sales.
What do you consider to be the most valuable benefits of being a member of the Port Group?
To have the opportunity to influence decisions regarding the regulations that are set for the port standard. The network and, by extension, the quality seal for the companies that are part of the Port Group.
How do you work with sustainability in the door business, and what initiatives are you looking forward to developing?
Sustainability for us at UK Portservice is partly a question of material choice and that we buy as locally produced as possible, and partly also a question at an individual level. Working sustainably on a broad front requires structure, balance and teamwork. I always look forward to finding smarter ways in everything we do.
What issues do you think are important for the industry association to pursue?
Above all, I think that the regulations should be reviewed so that healthy competition can prevail in the Swedish market. Today, the regulations are designed to benefit only some of the largest players in the industry.
What challenges do you think the industry will face in the coming years?
As I mentioned earlier, I see the uneven legislation as a challenge. We need to create a regulatory framework that promotes healthy competition and gives all companies the opportunity to grow and participate in industry development.
