CE marking of motorized garage doors
Motorised garage doors installed in private homes or apartment buildings must be CE marked before they are put into use. The CE marking shows that the door meets EU safety and functional requirements and is confirmed by the EC declaration of conformity, declaration of performance (DoP) and nameplate. Manufacturers and installers are responsible for ensuring that the door is correctly CE marked and that the installation is carried out in a safe manner.
The CE marking is regulated by several EU directives and regulations, including the Construction Products Regulation, the Machinery Directive, the EMC Directive and the RoHS Directive. Performance must be tested by a certified testing laboratory according to the harmonized standard EN 13241:2003+A2:2016 before the door is placed on the market. Documentation such as drawings, risk assessment, instructions in Swedish and production control must be produced by the manufacturer.
Motorized garage doors for individual use in connection with single-family homes are exempt from requirements for initial, recurring and audit inspections. However, inspection requirements apply if the door is installed within, for example, housing associations or in a public place such as a sidewalk.
