CE marking of manually operated garage doors

Manufacturers, retailers and importers of manually operated garage doors are responsible for ensuring that the doors are CE marked before they are placed on the market. The CE marking certifies that the product meets EU safety and performance requirements, and the rating plate must contain information such as the manufacturer's name, door model, year of manufacture and reference to the Declaration of Performance (DoP).

The CE marking is based on the Construction Products Regulation EU 305/2011, as garage doors are classified as construction products. To meet the requirements, the door's performance must be tested by a certified testing laboratory according to the harmonized standard EN 13241:2003+A2:2016. The manufacturer must also produce a declaration of performance and technical documentation with design data, risk assessment and instructions.

Instructions in Swedish should always accompany the door and describe installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling. Manually operated garage doors are not subject to inspection requirements by an accredited inspection body, but motorized garage doors in, for example, condominium associations or public areas may be subject to inspection.
