Our members: AJAB

In this series we introduce our new members, where they talk about their activities and why they are members of the Port Group. Now it's the turn of AJAB.

AJAB Smide AB is a well-established western Swedish company with over 30 years of experience in developing and manufacturing gates, gates, doors and wrought iron structures for industry, agriculture and private individuals. The company combines modern production with traditional craftsmanship and has been part of the Weland Group for a few years, with a continued strong focus on quality, customer customization and sustainable solutions.

We asked the site manager a few questions Christopher Tegnhammar.

Can you tell us a little about your business and what role you have in the company?

At AJAB we create doors with you as the customer in focus and are proud to offer products that combine quality with flexibility and customization. As a smaller company, we have the advantage of being able to quickly adapt to the customer's unique needs and deliver solutions that really make a difference.

Our range includes durable folding doors, swing doors, wicket doors and much more, and we are particularly proud of our proprietary highly insulated door type, E+. This door is designed to meet the highest demands for energy efficiency and durability, while being customizable to match your specific needs.

I am a site manager and mainly deal with Sales/Marketing, but there is also some development & logistics.

What do you consider to be the most valuable benefits of being a member of the Port Group?

I think the biggest benefits are networking, getting information about news, and sharing the knowledge that has been built up within the port group.

How do you work with sustainability in the door business, and what initiatives are you looking forward to developing?

For us, sustainability has always meant that our products should function for a long time, which is why we have a simple design that does not require much maintenance.

We also think it is important to shop as locally as possible to support local businesses and reduce transportation distances.

What issues do you think are important for the industry association to pursue?

I think an important issue is to increase knowledge & awareness about certain choices among the regulatory level. Today, procurements often come out where it is difficult, if not impossible, to find out what the end customer really wants.

Unfortunately, requirements are often written that are either far too high, which leads to unnecessary costs. Or it turns out in retrospect that the requirements were too low, which often leads to extra costs and a worse overall solution.

What challenges do you think the industry will face in the coming years?

I think we as an industry need to get better at communicating what is important when using / owning / purchasing a door. Both in terms of safety, technology, service intervals, inspections, etc.
