CE marking of manually operated residential gates
Manually operated residential gates installed in private homes or apartment buildings must be CE marked. The CE marking shows that the gate meets EU requirements and safety regulations, and is confirmed by a rating plate and associated Declaration of Performance (DoP). Manufacturers, suppliers and sellers are responsible for correct CE marking and that installation is carried out professionally and safely.
The CE marking is based on the Construction Products Regulation EU 305/2011, as residential doors are classified as construction products that affect safety, heat, air tightness and load. Performance must be tested by a certified testing laboratory according to the harmonized product standard EN 13241:2003+A2:2016. The results form the basis for the declaration of performance and the CE marking.
The manufacturer must also produce technical documentation, including design documents, risk assessment and instructions in Swedish for installation, operation, maintenance and dismantling. Manually operated villa gates on private property are not subject to inspection requirements, but requirements may apply if the gate is motorized or placed in a public area or within a housing association.
